Why Promotional Products?

The promotional products industry has a long history of success in the marketing mix. From George Washington’s campaign pins, Jasper Meek’s famous burlap bags, a McDonald’s happy meal toy or the dreaded corporate trade show uniform, promotional products have influenced purchasing decisions for millions of consumers. It is a $26 Billion Dollar industry no one has ever heard of. But, why do we choose one item or another? Why are they used at all, and how can they be used effectively?
